Course information

This course introduces the fundamental principles of three-dimensional design through hands-on exploration of form, space, structure, and material. Students develop spatial awareness by working across physical and digital processes, building a foundation applicable to sculpture, pre-architecture, product design, and environmental studies. Through a sequence of structured projects, students investigate volume, balance, surface, and systems of organization. Emphasis is placed on material behavior, iterative making, and clear visual communication. Projects move from direct engagement with simple materials to more complex constructions and spatial systems, integrating hands-on studio techniques with introductory digital tools. The course cultivates an understanding of how objects occupy space, how structures hold, and how form communicates-preparing students for further study in sculpture, design, and interdisciplinary spatial practices.
